Resources
If you want to dive deeper, we have collected some of the most important resources about climate science and carbon accounting with links to the organization’s official websites.
IPCC AR6
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is currently undergoing its Sixth Assessment phase, in which it will release the reports of its three Working Groups, three Special Reports, an updated methodology report, and a Synthesis Report.
IPCC Special Report - Global Warming of 1.5 ºC
A special report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) examines the effects of a 1.5 °C increase in global temperatures above pre-industrial levels and the corresponding greenhouse gas emission pathways, with a focus on enhancing the global response to climate change, promoting sustainable development, and working towards the elimination of poverty.
GHG Protocol
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard offer a set of guidelines and rules for organizations to follow when compiling a greenhouse gas emissions inventory. It presents the globally recognized standard for greenhouse gas accounting and acts as the foundation for nearly all corporate greenhouse gas reporting initiatives worldwide
GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance
The Scope 2 guidance provides valuable insight into how companies can accurately measure emissions from their electricity and energy purchases. This increased level of transparency can be a significant factor in driving corporate investment in more sustainable, renewable energy sources.
GHG Protocol - Product life cycle accounting and reporting standard
The Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard allow for a comprehensive assessment of the entire emissions associated with a product throughout its life cycle, enabling targeting of the most impactful opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
SBTi - Corporate Manual
The SBTi is an international organization that assists companies and financial institutions in establishing ambitious goals for reducing their emissions, in accordance with current climate research. This guide offers a detailed, step-by-step approach and suggestions for developing Science Based Targets.
ISO 14064-1:2018
This guide lays out the guidelines and standards for measuring and disclosing an organization's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reductions. It encompasses the process for planning, executing, maintaining, and validating an organization's inventory of GHG emissions.
Oxford Principles for Net Zero Aligned Carbon Offsetting
The Oxford Offsetting Principles report is a vital guide that helps government, cities, and companies to establish and implement voluntary net-zero commitments.
UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Emission Gap Report
The UNEP Emissions Gap Report (EGR) series evaluates the progress we are making towards limiting global warming well below 2°C and aiming for 1.5°C, in accordance with the Paris Agreement. Beginning in 2010, it offers a yearly, evidence-based evaluation of the discrepancy between projected future global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions if countries fulfil their climate change mitigation commitments, and where emissions need to be in order to avoid the most severe effects of climate change.
CAT Emission Gap
The CAT not only evaluates the impact of policies and commitments on global temperature, but also evaluates the projected total emissions in 2030 and compares them to emissions levels that align with the 1.5°C goal outlined in the Paris Agreement.
